“Amour Fou began out of necessity. In having to get a desk for my daughter, I wanted her to have something that had character and would be sturdy enough to last a lifetime. I knew I wouldn’t find this combination at the right price in any store, so I decided to take matters into my own hands.

I found a beautiful dressing table which had been exiled to a basement. I knew as soon as I had put the first coat on it that I was hooked. It wasn’t just the painting that had won me over, it was the entire process: searching for the right piece, cleaning it  and fixing its imperfections and preparing it for a new existence.

To me, every piece of furniture has its own personality, and just like humans, it doesn’t get to choose its destiny. I love every piece I’ve welcomed into my shop and I like to believe that when it leaves me and moves on to its new home, that my love for it shows just as much as the final finish.”
